    Col. Steven Berry has known the fear, danger and confusion of war. He has known the pain and loss it can bring.

    He has interacted with soldiers he’ll never see again — four who died in a helicopter crash. His commander was one of them.

    He has been in the line of fire for days during a “March madness” of repeated mortar fire.

    And he has ministered to soldiers during it all.
