    TRIP. Brother Wayne Napper is on his way to the Holy Land and I am sure he is excited about the trip. I am sure he will have a lot to share with us when he gets back.

    A LITTLE SNOW. I’m not the biggest fan of snow, but it’s pretty coming down. I just don’t like it on the roads. Last Monday night the roads were slick because of the cold temperatures.

    Remember to put straw in your pets’ houses if outdoors to keep them warm and give them fresh water every day. Don’t assume the iced water will melt.

    ROOK. Rook is played at 7 p.m. each Thursday at the HowevalleyVertreesCommunity building. Everyone is welcome.

    Elra Dowell of Elizabethtown is celebrating his 90th birthday today, Jan. 8, 2012, at his home with his wife of 66 years, Regina Dowell, and his family.
    A World War II veteran, he served in the European Theater from 1941-1945.

  • Staples announce birth of Dresden Banner

    Bradley and Amanda Staples of Upton announce the birth of a son, Dresden Banner, on Dec. 8, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 14.5 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    He has a brother, Donovan Archer of Upton.
    Grandparents are Val-erie Hamilton and Monty and Beverly Staples, all of Upton, and Walter Hamil-ton of Elizabethtown.

    Jacquelin Nichole Jones and Airman 1st Class Mi-chael Joseph Wilson were married Nov. 26, 2011, at Camp Carlson by Pastor Robert Pitman.
    The bride is the daughter of Jack and Norma Jones of Radcliff. The groom is the son of James and Jeannie Wilson of Vine Grove.
    The couple reside in Radcliff.

    Margaret Suzanne Cross of Louisville and William Joseph Peak III of LaGrange were married Oct. 15, 2011, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Pewee Valley with Father Terry L. Bradshaw officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Roger and Elizabeth Cross of Elizabethtown, and the groom is the son of William and Leslie Peak of Goshen.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Matron of honor was Celeste Barry, sister of the bride, of Elizabethtown. Best man was David Zummach of Van Horn, Texas.

  • Music students perform at Plum Alley Theatre

    The piano and voice students of Mila Nikolic held their holiday recital Dec. 22 at Plum Alley Theatre in Elizabethtown. The full-house performance was free and open to the public.
