Forrest and Patricia “Pat” Nelson of White Mills will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a drop-in reception, hosted by their children, from 2 to 5 p.m. June 9, 2018, in White Mills Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

They were married June 8, 1968, at Summit Methodist Church.

Mr. Nelson was an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and then retired from the Kentucky National Guard as a lieutenant colonel and was commander of the 165th Weather Flight. His unit activated for Desert Storm. He still farms the family farm in White Mills.

Mrs. Nelson retired from Hardin County Schools after 27 years teaching and coaching at Western Elementary, J.T. Alton and West Hardin middle schools and Central Hardin High School. Now, she helps on the farm, occasionally babysits and plays golf as often as possible.

They have two children, Laurie Dirr of Independence and Dan Nelson of White Mills, and eight grandchildren.

All friends, relatives and neighbors are invited to attend the casual reception.

No gifts, please.
