The Elizabethtown Educational Foundation (EEF) is pleased to announce the EIS annual celebration to be held 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 9 at Pritchard Community Center. The event is being billed as “The EVENT 2013 – Feel the Love,” and tickets may be purchased for $35 at any EIS school or the board of education office.

Entertainment for The EVENT is being provided by disc jockey Matt English, who will provide music throughout the evening. Additional highlights for this evening of fun and community support for Elizabethtown Independent Schools include:

  • Spotlight on individual school successes
  • EEF goals for the future
  • EIS Honor Room
  • Heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts
  • Showcase of event sponsors
  • Guests are invited to wear something red or fun vintage prom apparel

Because of the tremendous success of last year’s event, EEF accomplished one of its goals, establishing an endowment fund. As this fund continues to grow, the interest earned will be utilized to subsidize classroom, school and district initiatives as stated in the current EIS District Consolidated School Improvement Plan.

EEF would like to recognize the success of our employee campaign, “We Can Thrive on Five.” The foundation’s campaign supports teacher grants and directly impacts student achievement. The foundation and I truly appreciate our dedicated staff and their commitment to building upon our tradition of excellence. Working together with our district’s families, alumni and the community, we can assist each student in reaching their highest potential.

In addition to the Thrive on Five campaign, EEF orchestrated their annual appeal drive that was sent to more than 2,000 district families, community supporters and alumni last fall. All money raised from this initiative will be used to support our teacher grant program as well. Donations to EEF through the annual appeal are 100 percent tax deductible and may be mailed to EEF, 219 Helm Street, Elizabethtown.

The teacher grants are designed to provide needed funding to teachers for specific activities in which they would like to engage their students but lack the resources to do so. An application for these grants is available to all staff through the EEF website, www.etowneducationfoundation.com.

The EEF Board is comprised of 15 dedicated adults with close ties to the school district. Some board members are former students of EIS schools; some have children attending EIS schools; some are parents of former EIS students; and some are former educators from within the school district. Regardless of background, all board members are dedicated to the success of our school district.

With your support, we will keep the tradition of excellence alive for all students.
