LEWISPORT — On the bus ride from Brandenburg on Thursday night, Maya Luney was a nervous wreck.
Tasked with guarding one of the state’s best players in Hancock County star senior Beth Rates, the Meade County senior post wasn’t sure how the Lady Waves would execute the game plan drawn up by longtime coach Josh Hurt.
Luney wasn’t optimistic the Lady Waves would be able to stop Rates, who had scored 31 points against them earlier this season.
