A Buffalo resident died early Monday as a result of injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle crash in Hart County.
Joshua Wyatt Gibson, 23, was driving a 2004 Pontiac GTO on U.S. 31E near Hammonsville School Road just after 7 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to Kentucky State Trooper Joel Huff.
The car went into a right spin as it exited the left side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. The car’s left side then struck a large tree, causing the driver to be partially ejected out the right door.
Gibson’s vehicle appeared to have hydroplaned before it struck the tree, said Hart County Coroner Jeff Roten, who pronounced Gibson dead at the scene.
Linwood, Magnolia and Buffalo fire departments and Hart County EMS responded to the crash.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia. Burial follows in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Mount Sherman.
