HAPPY BIRTHDAY. On May 4, Howard Goodman of Eastview, along with his family and friends, celebrated his birthday at the home of his daughter, Marcella Martin. He received many nice gifts. Happy belated birthday to Howard, who is a former schoolmate of mine at Cann School. That was a lot of years ago! Happy belated birthday to Fletcher Terry who celebrated his sixth birthday on Sunday, Mother’s Day. A party was held at George and Dorothy Stewart’s home. He has a special uncle, Timmy Terry, and grandmother, Carolyn Terry. His great-grandmother, Rachel Grimes, also attended. I celebrated my 87th birthday on Mother’s Day, May 11, at the home of my daughter, Loretta Johnson, and her husband, James. The flowers and gifts were too many to mention, but it was a great day. My two daughters, Loretta Johnson and Kathy Gragson, took me out to eat in Elizabethtown on my birthday. I appreciated my special friend, Violet Stith of White Mills, who visited me and brought two beautiful tops, two African violets, cake and cards. Those attending on Sunday were James, Loretta; Todd, Tammie, Brad, Cary and Brent Johnson; Elnoah and Kathy Gragson; Nick and Marsha Thompson and three children; Chris and Lynn Loving and two sons; G.A. Davis; and David and Katrina Knight. I was born on May 8, 1921. I am so thankful for my family, friends and neighbors. Thanks to a special friend, Perry Hagen, who called, and thanks to Katherine Booker for the beautiful flower arrangement. Thanks to everyone for the cards. SYMPATHY. Sympathy to the family of a very special neighbor, Grover Sallee, who will certainly be missed. He was a special neighbor to me. He was a member of the White Mills Fire Department, and as long as he was able to, he helped collect for the Crusade for Children each year. He always stood with the fireman. His wife, Betty, stood beside him as long as he lived. He will certainly be missed. Sympathy to the family of Charlie Thompson Sr., 49, of Campbellsville. Nick Thompson of Elizabethtown is a surviving nephew. OUT AND ABOUT. The White Mills Fire Department cooked and served one of their special chicken dinners on Saturday at the fire house. A large number attended. The Spring Flink on May 10 at Lakewood Elementary School was a great success. The May P.T.T. meeting and Talent Show at Lakewood was on May 8. A large crowd turned out for the event.
GET WELL. I'm sending prayers to my daughter Barbara booker Davis who is seriously ill at home after suffering a stroke earlier in the week.
