Driver of vehicle remains hospitalized, RPD reports

An Elizabethtown man died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of South Boundary Road and Ky. 313, according to Radcliff police.

Joseph R. Culley, 52, was transported to University Hospital in Louisville but did not recover, police reported in a statement Thursday.

Responding to an emergency call received at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, Radcliff officers discovered a white Saturn traveling east on Ky. 313 collided with a red Mitsubishi traveling south on South Boundary Road. Police said the Mitsubishi crossing Ky. 313 ran a stop sign, resulting in a crash.

The cars continued through the intersection before stopping at the corner along an embankment.

The driver of the Mitsubishi remains in University Hospital. Shirley L. Matthews, 66, of Elizabethtown is listed in stable condition, police said.

The other car was driven by Brandon Bolden, 25, of Radcliff, and included passengers Brittany Purham-Bazemore, 23, of Rineyville and Terrence Phillips, 22, of Vine Grove. The initial police report said all three were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital and Thursday's update indicates all were treated and released.

RPD continues to investigate the crash. The department was assisted at the crash by several agencies including Hardin County EMS, Kentucky State Police, Vine Grove Police Department and Radcliff Fire Department.
