White Mills News Kathleen Booker, 369-7101 REUNIONS. The Bob and Mary Bland reunion is at 10:30 a.m. today, Sept. 7, at White Mills Christian Camp dining room. The meal will be potluck. Everyone is invited. CHURCH NEWS. An overflowing crowd attended the fifth Sunday service and dinner at the Center Point fellowship hall last Sunday. Ministers and families attending included Pastor and Mrs. Jerry Bird and family of New Freedom Baptist Church in Hodgenville and Brother and Mrs. Phillip Sallee and family who live in Elizabethtown and are members of the New Freedom Baptist Church in Hodgenville. Brother Sallee brought the message. A wonderful meal was served at noon in the fellowship hall. The church furnished the ham and chicken, bread and drinks. The rest of the meal was potluck, which of course included delicious cakes, pies and banana pudding as well as a lot of other wonderful dishes. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Congratulations to James and Loretta Johnson who celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on Sept. 1. James and Loretta Johnson’s youngest son, Alex Johnson, has bought a home in St. Petersburg, Fla. OUT AND ABOUT. Kathy Gragson and I went to Flint Hill Grocery recently. Joann Cardin said to remind everyone they now have their new honey in the store. VISITS. My visitors this weekend included Elmer Pawley of Leitchfield. He brought his beans, already broken and in ice water, and I canned them. He has another row to pick. My son-in-law, G.A. Davis, also stopped by for a visit. He had been to Flint Hill Grocery to purchase a type of hot cheese. He visited his daughter, Pam, and her husband in Louisville on Saturday. Pam was involved in a car wreck, and her husband has recently had back surgery. SYMPATHY. Sympathy to the family of Hubert Brown of this community. He had been living with his son, Wendall, and wife on White Mills Road since his health worsened. I remember him from when I was a teenager. He and his parents and siblings lived in the Meeting Creek area next to the old Burkhead Country School in Meeting Creek. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Happy belated birthday to Edna Drane, her 80th, on Aug. 26. I have some special memories of Edna and her husband who were married the same day my late husband Floyd and I were married – July 22, 1937. I used to love reading Mr. Drane’s memories of their wedding and the hot suit he was wearing. My husband was also suffering with his suit and long-sleeved dress shirt. Gary and Lisa Shrader had a birthday celebration for their son Carley on Labor Day, Sept. 1, at their home on Copelin Road near White Mills.
