Aileen Stark Conner, 88, of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Bullitt County, the daughter of Charles E. Stark and Artie Mobley Stark. In September 1945, she married Clifton T. Conner in Bowling Green. He preceded her in death in August 1986.
Aileen grew up on a dairy farm in Bullitt County. She moved with her family to a farm near Elizabethtown in 1934, graduating from Elizabethtown High School in 1942. Upon graduating from high school, since World War II was in progress, she began working at Fort Knox. She then attended Campbellsville College for two years. Aileen then worked at Elizabethtown Coca-Cola Bottling for 24 years, the last 10 years as business manager. She liked to bowl and travel. She was a longtime active member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, working with children for a number of years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Conner; two brothers, Alvin Stark and Stanley Stark; and a sister, Ethel Lovell.
Survivors include two sisters, Clara Howell and her husband, Durward, of Elizabethtown and Katherine Nichols of Nevada, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Ann Stark and Alberta Conner, both of Elizabethtown, and Juanita Dye of Louisville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two special friends, Barbara Jean Brown and Margie Dalton.
The funeral was Friday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Dan Lovell officiating. Burial was in Hardin Memorial Park.
