Ancestral Trails Historical Society met in January with Rudy and Pat McKinney, who travel around the county portraying early American characters. Rudy is a woodwright and constructs 18th century pieces such as candle boxes, the Jefferson writing desk, the gout stool, tape loom and pipe box. Pat illustrated how to use the tape loom. Both Rudy and Pat are retired teachers in Hardin County. The next meeting is Feb. 1 when local Civil War historian Elvin Smith will present the program on “The Civil War Battle of Vinegar Hill,” a local battle in Hardin County.
