Annette Marie Phillips Guttormsen, 75, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at her home in Sonora of natural causes.
Annette was born in Pikeville on Aug. 19, 1936. She graduated from Pikeville High School in 1953, and then attended Berea College before joining the U.S. Air Force where she met her future husband, Keith Guttormsen. They married on Dec. 31, 1955. Annette and Keith lived in various places as Keith continued to serve in the Air Force until 1974. In that year they returned to Kentucky, helped operate a family farm and owned and operated an electrical company, A&K Electric in Hodgenville. She was a housewife and active in the LaRue County Homemakers Club. She served as president of Hodgenville United Methodist Women. In 1986 they moved back to Maine where they remained active in several organizations until Keith’s death in 2011. Annette then moved back to Kentucky to live with her daughter, Lisa, and Lisa’s husband, Neal.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Alva Phillips, and a daughter, Linda.
Survivors include four children, Edward Guttormsen of Honolulu, Lisa Cardin and her husband, Neal, of Sonora, Andria Henderson and her husband, Earl, of Summersville and LynnAnne Rose and her husband, David, of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, James Henderson of Summersville, Marcia Henderson of Lexington, Jacob and Joshua Rose, both of Cincinnati, and Matthew Melton and Lori Melton, parents of her three great-grandchildren, Taylor-Ann, Ryleigh and Jordyn; her mother, Marie Phillips of Kimper; a brother, Harvey Phillips of Kimper; two nieces, one nephew and many dear friends.
Cremation was chosen.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora with the Rev. Tony Carson officiating.
