Another $3.8 million approved for sports park construction

Elizabethtown City Council on Monday approved another $3.8 million in construction work at the Elizabethtown Sports Park, including field surfacing for the baseball diamonds.

The council approved bids from Mid-America Golf & Landscape Inc. of Lee’s Summit, Mo., for natural field surfacing for baseball at $1,222,736; Korkat/Lanier Plans Inc. of Carrollton, Ga., for recreational surfaces/playgrounds at $193,945.63; Meyer Midwest Inc. of Frankfort, for roofing and sheet metal at $344,000; and All Purpose Erectors Inc. of Lebanon, Ill., for sports lighting at $2,033,193.

With the passage of the packages, the total amount of construction now approved hovers around $20 million.
