Senate fails on gun bill

The Manchin-Toomey legislation was easy, and smart and patriotic. Expanded background checks are the minimum of what this country should pass to protect our families and communities.

We must have a background check to volunteer in our child’s school. But we can go to a gun show and buy all the guns and ammunition we want with no background check. Why do we make it so easy?

Women will go to the polls at the next elections to change the Congress, one vote at a time.

Recommended reading

I would like to recommend to any local church pastor, ministry leader or patient the book “The Greatest Loss” by the Rev. Henry White.

One of the great tragedies of this life is when untimely death snatches our young people from us. White offers spiritual insights from the tragic death of his son.

Most of us have difficulties expressing appropriate words when young people die. What do we say to parents, relatives or community friends?

“The Greatest Loss” gives examples and thoughts about how to deal with these difficult times in the lives of people. I want to recommend this timely book as a must read to have in your library.

More dirty tricks

Well, it looks like the Democrats are rolling out their dirty tricks a lot earlier.

I expected the usual email they send me expressing outrage about our senior U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and begging for money. It is almost hard to believe they already are stooping to secretly recording his campaign offices in an attempt to dig up dirt on him. Yet Mother Jones was more than happy to publish recorded conversations regarding Ashley Judd as a possible Senate candidate.

No great secrets were revealed in these discussions as Ms. Judd’s radical views and history of mental illness already were a matter of public record. The fact she was even considered at all only shows just how weak a field of candidates the Democrats have to offer.

The question each of us must ask is are we really willing to lose such a strong voice for Kentucky? Are we willing to replace a strong conservative leader with yet one more cheerleader for Barack Obama? With Mitch gone, what would happen to Fort Knox? Without his leadership, how many more of our rights such as bearing arms, would be stripped away?

I don’t support the Democrat’s dirty tricks or their Marxist agenda. Neither do I swallow the propaganda spewed by their media allies such as the AP (Administration Press). For those who agree, please join me in Team Mitch. Kentucky deserves strong conservative leadership.
