Army announces death of soldier in program at Fort Knox

FORT KNOX — The Department of Defense announced last week the death of a soldier last summer assigned to the warrior transition unit at Fort Knox.

Sgt. Jerry L. DeLoach, 45, of Jackson, Ga., died at his home on July 7.

A Defense Department release initially said DeLoach died at the unit at Fort Knox. However Connie Shaffery, the post’s public affairs officer, said Tuesday that DeLoach died in Georgia.
