Bookstore buys and sells books, and more

By The Staff

ASK ECTC  Q: What do I need to bring to the bookstore to buy my books? A: Bring your course schedule with you from registration, your student ID and a valid photo ID such as your driver’s license. We know what books are required for your courses, and there will be bookstore staff on hand to help you find your course books. You also can purchase your books from the bookstore link on the ECTC Web site or www:WhyWaitForBooks.com. If you are a Fort Knox campus student or take courses at an off-campus location, you may find purchasing your books online is more convenient for you. In addition, with our newly expanded Bookstore Web site, you can purchase your books, supplies and even show your school spirit with ECTC clothing, gift items and more.   Q: I am taking classes online. How do I get my books? A: You can access www:WhyWaitForBooks.com to order Distance Learning textbooks. It’s fast and easy, and your books will be mailed to your door. You can even charge your textbooks against your financial aid. Here’s how it works: Access the site: www:WhyWaitForBooks.com Select the state: Kentucky Select School: Distance Learning Order your books.   Q: If I have financial aid, can I charge my books? A: If you have been approved for financial aid, you can charge your books and other merchandise you want or need against your aid. Please note that some instructors require specific materials for their classes such as lab coats, lab supplies, culinary tools, special paper, etc., all of which are  available and can be charged against your financial aid in the bookstore. There are specific dates to charge on financial aid so be sure to access the financial aid Web site for more details.   Q: If I don’t have financial aid, how else can I pay? A: The bookstore accepts cash, personal check (must have a photo ID) and credit cards. Bookstore Barnes and Noble gift cards also can be used for your purchases.   Q: Do you sell software at discounted prices to students? A: We partner with www.CampusEstore.com to offer you the best discounted prices on the latest software available. You can access the Web site for information on the software available and also order via this site. Or call (800) 874-9001 for personal assistance.   Q: I am a Western Kentucky University student taking classes in Elizabethtown. Can I purchase my books at the ECTC Barnes and Noble College Bookstore? A: We carry and sell books for WKU classes that are offered on our campus. We do not have the ability, however, to charge your book purchases against WKU financial aid. If you would like to purchase your books locally and pay by cash, check or credit card, WKU will send you a residual check for the amount of financial aid you have not used after classes begin. We also do not have the ability to sell WKU on-line books. You must contact the WKU Bookstore at (800) 444-5155 for more information.   Q: What if I get the wrong book, change classes or drop my class? A: You can get a full refund as long as you have your cash register receipt, your new books are not written in and your shrink-wrapped books have not have been unwrapped. Return your books according to the date specified on the bottom of your receipt if you want a refund or exchange (within the first week that classes begin). If you drop a class, you can bring your receipt and your book to the bookstore within 30 days of the first day of class for a full refund.   Q: What do I do with my books after the semester has ended? A: You can sell your used books back to the Bookstore. We buy used books all year long. However, at the end of each semester, we are buying books for the next term and may be able to offer you more cash at that time. Bring your books to the store after you take your finals and sell them to us. Selling your books not only reduces your overall costs for books, but puts cash in your hand and helps provide more used books for other students, keeping the cost of textbooks down by as much as 25 percent.   Q: When is the Bookstore open? A: Bookstore hours are posted in the front of the store or you can call (270) 706-8728. We stay open longer hours and on Saturdays during the first few weeks that classes begin. We also are open extended hours at the end of the semester when we are buying books.   Q: Can anyone come and visit the bookstore? A: Yes. We have more than books in the bookstore. We also sell merchandise such as ECTC and Western spirit items, ECTC gift pens, clocks, hats, MP3 players, the N.Y. Times Bestsellers, snack foods, Jones soda and more.   For more information, call  (270) 706-8728 or access the ECTC Web site www.elizabethtown.kctcs.edu and select Bookstore. Hours of operation, special sales, buyback and other information regarding the bookstore are posted daily. The bookstore is located in the Central Regional Postsecondary Education Center on ECTC’s main campus.   “Ask ECTC” answers questions about college commonly asked by high school students and adults. Today's questions are answered by Pamela Bentley, ECTC Barnes and Noble Bookstore Manager.
