I understand ECTC is providing free workshops for Dana workers who are being laid off. Can you give me the details? A. On July 31, ECTC will have two separate identical workshops. Dana workers and spouses may attend either. The first is from 1 to 4 p.m. and the second is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both workshops will be in Room 421 of the Regional Postsecondary Education Center on campus. Q. What topics will be covered? A. Presentations will be made regarding financial resources, community resources and educational options. The last hour of each workshop will provide an opportunity for one-on-one discussion with representatives of United Way, the ministerial alliance, financial planning, Lincoln Trail Career Centers, adult education, ECTC and Western Kentucky University. Q. I understand there are three other free workshops for Dana employees. What are they and when will they occur? A. Workers from Dana may enroll in any or all of the following: Interviewing Skills. Students will learn the types of questions now being asked at job interviews and what materials, such as portfolios, resumes, etc. to bring with you to an interview. Students also will practice answering sample interview questions. The class is two hours long and is being offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 and from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5. Resumé Writing. Many applicants are asked to submit a resumé with their application, often online. In addition, it is appropriate to have an updated resumé to take with you to a job interview. This class will help participants create a resumé or update existing resumés. The class is two hours long and is being offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 6 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 11. Job Search and Application Completion via the Web. Many jobs are only listed online. This class will show participants Web sites of local private sector jobs, local government jobs, state jobs and others. The class is two hours long and is being offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6. What other classes are available to Dana workers? A. There is an extensive list of courses, from which Dana employee may attend two for free.
