Kentucky State Police investigate officer-involved shooting

The Radcliff man who died Wednesday night at an apartment standoffwas killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to preliminary autopsy findings, police say.

Michael Strand, 47, died inside his apartment at 630 Seminole Drive. Radcliff police arrived on a burglary call at the eight-unit complex.

After police made contact with Strand, gunfire was exchanged between the victim and Officer Terry Moore, a 2½-year veteran of the Radcliff Police Department and a retired Kentucky state trooper.

Another Radcliff officer was struck in the ankle but the bullet did not penetrate his shoe, authorities reported Wednesday.

Kentucky State Police say the exact series of events are still under investigation from Wednesday night.
