New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance will hold a discussion and book signing at noon Tuesday at Fort Knox’s Barr Memorial Library.
Part of the Authors at Your Library series, Jance is signing “Second Watch,” her newest book, which is part of the J.P. Beaumont series.
With more than 40 books published and 23 million copies in print, Jance has authored three series in addition to the J.P. Beaumont series. The others are the Joanna Brady, Ali Reynolds and Walker family series.
In “Second Watch,” Jance incorporates a real-life past acquaintance into the J.P. Beaumont storyline that focuses on her character’s service in the Vietnam War.
Inspired to become a writer in the second grade, after reading the “Wizard of Oz” series, Jance overcame the obstacle of not being allowed into a college creative writing program. Jance said the professor who taught the course didn’t believe women should be writers.
Jance published the first novel featuring the J.P. Beamont character in 1985.
The free program at Barr Memorial Library featuring Jance is open to the public.
While supplies last, soldiers attending the event in uniform receive a free autographed copy of one of her bestsellers. Books are available for purchase.
