The Bible strongly encourages drinking alcohol. –
Ecclesiastes 9:7 – “Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do.”
Psalm 104:14-15 – “He makes grass grow for... the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart.”
The Bible says that alcohol is a divine blessing from God. –
Deuteronomy 7:13 – “He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land—your grain, new wine and oil—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land that he swore to your forefathers to give you.”
Numbers 18:12 – “I give you [God’s priests] all the finest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain that they [Church members] give the LORD as the firstfruits of their harvest.”
Proverbs 3:9-10 – “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
Hosea 2:8 – “She [the Nation of Israel] has not acknowledged that I was the one who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil, who lavished on her the silver and gold— which they used for Baal.”
Jesus Christ the Lord Himself liked to get drunk (non-debacherously, bringing joy instead of wrongdoing) while drinking with sinners as He preached the gospel of salvation to them. –
Matthew 11:19 – “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and “sinners.” ‘But [the spirit of] Wisdom is proved right by her actions.”
The Bible says that demons convince Christians to teach against drinking alcohol in order to make love for Jesus seem “religious” and unattractive (just like what the Pharisees did 2,000 years ago to the hatred of Christ), preventing multitudes of people from getting saved. –
1 Timothy 4:1-5 – “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.”
The Lord commanded all of His Jewish people to spend 10% of their yearly income on booze for His big annual party! –
Deuteronomy 14:23, 26 – “Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God... Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice.”
Jesus said that drinking alcohol cannot possibly make a person’s heart unclean. Christians cannot do the things which make people unclean while drinking because the transformation in their hearts already took place when they got born again with Christ’s Spirit. –
Mark 7:17-23 – “Are you so dull?” Jesus asked. “Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him ‘unclean’? For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.” In saying this, Jesus declared all foods “clean.”
He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean.’ For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All of these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’”
The Bible says that alcohol has good use as medicine. –
1 Timothy 5:23 – “Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.”
The Bible says the purpose of God wanting Christians to drink is to bring Him glory (so praise Him and witness when you do it)! –
1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Jesus turned many barrels of water into wine at a wedding party because the guests there had started drinking but had not yet drank enough to really get drunk (He did bring twelve hell-raising apostles with Him after all!), and Jesus, who was anointed with joy more than any other person who ever lived, is all about starting a good party! –
John 2:1-10 – “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.”
The Bible says that drinking light beer instead of regular beer is a curse from God (sort of a joke, but God said it)! –
Isaiah 1:21-22 – “See how the faithful city has become a harlot! She once was full of justice; righteousness used to dwell in her— but now murderers! Your silver has become dross, your beer has become diluted with water.”
Are you worried about having to give up smoking in order to become a Christian? Don’t be “religious”, because the Bible says… –
Genesis 1:29 – “I give to you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it.”
The Bible even describes a literal river of joyful liquids in heaven where Christians can eternally drink to their fill… for pleasure! –
Psalm 36:8 – “They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your River of Delights!”
In the Old Testament, the Lord clearly commanded His people to get drunk on alcohol -
Song of Songs 5:1b (Septuagint) - "Eat, mates, and drink, and be drunk, brothers and sisters."
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul taught that drunkenness was a sin, so play it safe and just stay slightly inebriated when you drink here on Earth –
See 1 Cor. 5:11, 1 Cor. 6:10, Gal 5:21, Eph 5:18
The Bible says that saved Christians will get drunk in heaven with Lord Jesus (I tell you the truth that MY cup will be bottomless)! –
Luke 22:17-18 – “After taking the cup [at the Last Supper], he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
Isaiah 25:6-9 – “On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines.
…In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
