Project to be completed Monday in Radcliff

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana is hosting a holiday-themed party Monday in Radcliff to celebrate the season and honor military members and their families.

The Elizabethtown-based branch, which covers 12 Kentucky and southern Indiana counties, will host its gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Colvin Community Center, according to a news release.

Kevin Clark, community engagement branch manager, said in addition to featuring holiday music and activities, attendees also will create holiday greeting cards to send to active-duty military throughout Kentucky.

The cards are an opportunity for Big Brothers Big Sisters to “honor and thank” military service members and their families, he said.

Clark said the event is open to all program members in the area as well as those who are on the branch’s waiting list for matches.

Among the invited are those who participate in the BBBS of Kentuckiana’s military program, which reaches out to children of military families in the area, Clark said.

Participation in the Military Program Mentors can help “fill in the space” for a child who has a parent deployed or who has been killed in the line of duty, he said.

Those with family in the military may take home greeting cards, Clark said.

Though the branch still is accepting RSVPs, he said he expects 100 to 150 matches to attend.
