Judge Ken Howard denied a motion for bond reduction Tuesday in the case against an Elizabethtown man accused of repeatedly striking his wife with a revolver.

Michael R. Odom, 42, was indicted in November for charges of attempted murder, first-degree rape, second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.

Odom has been lodged since Oct. 15 at Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond.

His attorney, public defender David Stewart, acknowledged the seriousness of Odom’s charges but referred to the defendant’s lack of criminal record in his request to reduce bond.

Because of the seriousness of the charges, Howard denied the request.

Odom was arrested Oct. 15 after police said he repeatedly struck his wife and pointed a weapon at her head and pulled the trigger.
