BOYS' PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP: Panthers cruise past Grayson (09/03)

Once the Elizabethtown Panthers got rolling in the second half Tuesday night, the Grayson County Cougars couldn’t keep up.

Junior midfielders Nick Coffman and Aaron Martin had two goals apiece as the visiting Panthers scored four times after halftime to pull away for a 5-1 win over the Cougars.

Coffman scored in the 21st minute off an assist from junior midfielder Mehdi Haddouch. Coffman and senior forward Cody Bridges scored in the 46th and 48th minutes, before Martin scored both of his goals in the 55th and 77th minutes.

Coffman, Bridges, senior defender Faizan Bhatti and junior forward Conner Casey each had an assist.

Junior keeper Kaileb Ben-nett made three saves for Elizabethtown, which ran its unbeaten streak to eight.

UP NEXT: Elizabethtown hosts Nelson County at 7 p.m. Thursday.

JOHN HARDIN 8, NELSON COUNTY 1. Freshman Andrew Minnis had two goals and three assists, leading the Bulldogs (5-0) to their fifth straight win.

Sophomore Rylan Jaquess added a goal and two assists, while senior Christian Bonifield had a goal and an assist.

Senior Jon Westwood, junior Adam Ballard, sophomore Brandon Hubert and freshman Abdullah Atiyani also scored.

Senior keeper Ethan George made two saves for John Hardin, which led 7-0 before Nelson County scored.

CENTRAL HARDIN 5, THOMAS NELSON 1. Senior midfielder Zach Fonda had two goals and an assist as the visiting Bruins (3-2-1) won their third straight.

Junior forward Joseph Jopes scored on a penalty kick, while senior defender Clayton Ryan scored off an assist from Fonda to make it 3-0 at the half.

Sophomore midfielder Cade Bowan scored off an assist from senior forward Isaac Pipta.

Junior keeper Garrett Kasey made three saves, while senior reserve Andrew Schmidt made two.

NORTH HARDIN CHRISTIAN 2, LANDMARK CHRISTIAN 2. Senior Daeryong Lee scored twice for the Falcons (4-1-1), who saw their four-game winning streak end.

Senior Fernando Carmona and junior Nash Martin each had an assist.

Freshman keeper Steven Taylor made four saves.
