Local tourism officials said a proposal to strip $9 million from a restricted tourism fund over the next two years could greatly limit the state’s ability to market its attractions to the world.
Gov. Steve Beshear’s two-year budget proposal includes a provision to take $6 million from the restricted tourism, meeting and convention marketing fund in 2015 and another $3 million in 2016 and move that money into the state’s general fund.
It also slashes the Department of Travel & Tourism’s budget by 5 percent.
