After two-and-a-half hours of deliberations, a military court found Fort Campbell Sgt. Brent Burke guilty Tuesday morning on all charges in the 2007 double murder of his estranged wife and her former mother-in-law in a Rineyville home.
In addition to premeditated murder and felony murder charges, he was convicted of burglary, child endangerment and obstruction of justice.
Burke, who had four mistrials in Hardin Circuit Court, was found guilty in the general court martial of killing Tracy Burke, his ex-wife, and Karen Comer, her former mother-in-law, on Sept. 11, 2007.
He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison but jurors must decide if there will be a possibility of parole. The sentencing phase began Tuesday evening with testimony from family members of the victims and Burke's parents.
