CARROLLTON — For 17 days in 1989, the eyes of the nation were focused on Carroll County. For Circuit Judge Charlie Satterwhite, it was his job to make sure everything went smoothly.
A man was on trial for his life. Larry Mahoney had been charged in the deaths of 27 people after he drove his pickup truck the wrong way on Interstate 71 and collided with the bus in which they were riding.
