A Cecilia man is in serious condition in a Louisville hospital after a collision Tuesday night on Leitchfield Road left him with life-threatening injuries.
Larry Deweese, 70, was attempting to turn onto Leitchfield Road from the Dollar General Store when his 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis pulled into the path of a westbound pick-up truck, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police Post 4.
The 1997 Nissan truck, operated by Aaron Dudgeon, 39, of Eastview, struck the front driver’s side of the Mercury, according to the release.
The Mercury stopped facing west in the westbound lane, police said, while the truck crossed eastbound lanes before coming to a halt off the roadway.
State police responded at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday to the scene near the 5000 block of Leitchfield Road, according to the release.
Deweese sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville, according to KSP. On Thursday, the hospital continued to list him in serious condition.
HardinCounty EMS transported Dudgeon to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Post 4 spokesman Jeff Gregory said Deweese was wearing a seatbelt while Dudgeon was not.
Trooper Scotty R. Sharp is leading the ongoing investigation, according to the release.
State troopers were assisted at the scene by Hardin County EMS and Elizabethtown Fire Department.
