-A A +A

April 7, 2013

Good to be back on the line again, my computer has been in the shop the past couple of weeks, I have really missed it. After one gets used to having a computer, then have to do without it, it almost seems like a family member is missing. Even though I don’t get the chance to be online much anymore, I do check my e-mail most every day to see what I have. I noticed I have more than 700 unread e-mails, of which I know I can never get all of those read, even though I dislike deleting any without first reading, I know I must.

EASTER CELEBRATION. Well Easter turned out to be a nice day, after a rainy beginning, though it was a bit chilly for the time of year. When we arose Sunday morning, I told Floyd it was a disagreeable morning for Sunrise Services at the park, as planned. Hope everyone had a glorious day with their families, and most of all attended the church of their choice in remembrance and reverence of Jesus Christ who gave his life upon the cross to redeem our sins.

FAMILY GATHERINGS. We enjoyed having lunch with sixteen family members from Louisville, Phyllis Ruff & Carrie Woods of Nashville, Tenn., Myles and Carleen Vollmer of Elizabethtown, Donald and Dannette Alexander, Donald and Melissa, their son, Donald and daughter, Samantha Alexander and James Barnes of Bowling Green, Brock, Ashley and son Brody and just down the road, Wayne and Marcia Barnes. Sorry some were unable to come due to job duties and illness. A granddaughter, Deanna Woods and daughter Katie were unable to be here since Katie entered the hospital the evening before. Glad she was doing better Monday Evening.

Edna Drane had approximately 25 family members home to eat lunch with her.

A lot of enjoyment to have our family home enjoying each others company.

Don and Doris Martin enjoyed having their children and grandchildren home with them Sunday and enjoyed watching the grandchildren hunt eggs.

Billy and Mary Parker, along with his mother, Ruby Parker, spent the Easter weekend in Lexington with their son, Zachary Parker and family.

FISH FRY. Stephensburg Masonic Lodge No. 212 served a fish fry each Friday evening during lent. I understand they did well, making some needed dollars for the lodge. Good Friday was the last fish fry they plan to serve until the Lenten season next year. Good Friday the Pirtle Chapter No. 449 Order of the Eastern Star did well with the bake sale they sponsored on Good Friday evening along with the Mason’s Fish Fry.

I am sure Mrs. Thelma Dunn was very disappointed she was unable to attend, and help work at the bake sale; she has always been such an avid worker with the Order of the Eastern Star. She was in Hardin Memorial Hospital recovering from a broken hip following a fall she received recently. I hear she is doing well and was removed Monday from HMH to Kensington Manor for a few weeks for further recovery before returning home with her daughter and husband, Randall and Sue Flowers.
