The Cecilian Bank robbed in Sonora

Branch robbed shortly before closing time Tuesday

Shortly before The Cecilian Bank branch in Sonora closed its doors for the day Tuesday afternoon, the bank was robbed.

Police said he is identified as a white male, late teens to mid-20s, 5’9”, thin build, with a brown to red mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded zip-up jacket with a large Adidas logo on the back, dark blue jeans, brown hat and brown gloves. 


Kentucky State Police responded to the robbery at approximately 3:45 p.m. and still were at the scene hours later

Cecilian Bank President and CEO Greg Pawley said bank video showed the suspect left on foot and headed toward downtown Sonora.

Pawley said the robber went to a teller window during the robbery, where he handed the teller a note demanding cash. Pawley said all bank employees were safe after the incident.

Trooper Jonathan Vaughn is handling the investigation for KSP. No information was made available regarding what may have been taken.
