The Central Hardin Fire Department is sponsoring its “first annual” 5-Alarm Family Firefest from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Historic State Theater, 209 W. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown to benefit the Crusade for Children.
Events will include a chili cookoff, dunking booth, hot dog eating contest and the showing of two movies, “Firehouse Dog” from noon to 2 p.m. and “Fireproof” from 4 to 6 p.m. Entry fee for the event is $10.
Entry fee for the chili cookoff is $20 per person, per division and category. Divisions are: Joe Public, Emergency Services and Restaurants. Categories are Smoldering (mild), Free Burning (medium) and Flashover (hot)
All proceeds will go to support the WHAS Crusade for Children, and all monies collected will remain in Hardin County. For information, call Tom Williams, assistant chief/Crusade coordinator for the Central Hardin Fire Department, at 765-8340.
