Central Hardin wins girls' bowling state title

The Central Hardin Lady Bruins won the KHSAA bowling state championship Friday, beating Harrison County 3-2 in the best-of-five final at Collins Eastland in Lexington.

Senior Ari Austin clinched the match with a strike to lead off the 10th frame of the final game. Amanda Shackelford, Angie Mykytiuk, Madyson Martin, Mallory Burton and Austin bowled the championship bracket for the Lady Bruins.

Central Hardin beat Harrison County 218-211, 209-168, 201-209, 177-203, 168-163. Central was state runner-up in 2016.
In the boys' state championship Friday afternoon, North Hardin reached the state quarterfinals before being eliminated by South Warren, 3-1. North Hardin had advanced earlier by beating Covington Catholic 3-0.
Elizabethtown also advanced to the state tournament but was eliminated in round of 16.
