Central Hardin's bid to win another state baseball championship ended Friday night in the semifinal round.
Pleasure Ridge Park fell behind 2-0 before scoring 10 runs in the third to defeat the Bruins, 10-3 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington. The Bruins end the season with a record of 34-6 including a perfect 16-0 against 5th Region opposition.
PRP beat Mercer County for the state title Saturday. Mercer defeated Henderson County 7-2 in the first semifinal game Friday.
Earlier on Friday, the Central Hardin softball team was eliminated from that state tournament in Owensboro despite a dramatic comeback in one game.
After 12 scoreless innings in KHSAA state tournament and a 4-hour, 40-minute rain delay, Central Hardin's bats woke up Friday evening. The Lady Bruins scored six times as play resumed in the sixth inning to stave off elimination by defeating Louisville Male 6-4.
Central Hardin immediately returned to action in the loser's bracket and was eliminated by Boyle County, 9-1.
After being shutout by Lone Oak in Thursday's opening round, Central Hardin slipped into the loser's bracket.
