Computer basics for beginners

Q: I need to learn how to operate a computer. I’m a real beginner. Does Elizabethtown Community and Technical College have a course I can take?

A: ECTC will offer Computers for Beginners twice this summer. The first class is 6-9 p.m.  June 12, 19 and 26. The second class will be 6-9 p.m. July 16, 17 and 18. Both classes will be at the Elizabethtown campus.

The class will consist of basic computer operations such as use of a mouse, e-mail attachments and Internet use and an introduction to Microsoft software. Students need not have any computer experience. Class size is limited to allow for individual attention. Cost of the class is $59.

Q: Is there a class on how to use email?

A: The class, Email- Where do I Start?, is designed for individuals who want to open an account, learn to attach documents and photographs and more. The class will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and June 18 on the Elizabethtown campus. Cost of the class is $60.

Q: I need to learn QuickBooks software for my small business. Does ECTC offer a beginning course?

A: Yes, QuickBooks will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 5 on the Elizabethtown campus. Cost of the class is $79, which includes a textbook.

Q: Is there a beginning Excel course this summer?

A: Yes, the course will be 6-9 p.m. July 14, 21 and 28 on the Elizabethtown campus. The course will cover adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, calculating averages and writing and using formulas in spreadsheets. Cost of the class is $69.
