Consultants offering advice for community events

Elizabethtown Events Coordinator Sarah Vaughn said she is working with Property Consulting Group, a Chicago-based consulting firm, to better market the city’s events, including the Heartland Festival and Cruisin’ the Heartland.

The firm already contracts with the city to market the Elizabethtown Sports Park and Vaughn said she is “piggybacking” off this opportunity to seek the firm’s advice on ways to strengthen the city’s sponsorship packages.

Speaking at the Elizabethtown Tourism Commission's meeting Wednesday, Vaughn said the city must increase the levels of sponsorship in the future to keep the events financially healthy. She said PCG lends the experience needed to place value on the events for someone who may be interested in purchasing sponsorship rights.

Vaughn said the city has not been charged for the consultations and does not plan to enter a second contract with PCG for these services.
