ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown police say the demand for copper has thieves resorting to stealing it from tornado sirens.
In the past month, investigators say thieves stripped copper from six of the city’s 11 sirens.
Bobby Heath, who owns the company that tests the sirens, said the sirens failed to sound recently and he noticed the antennas were broken off and copper wiring had been cut out.
