An Elizabethtown man and his girlfriend have been charged after the woman's 2-year-old daughter was found with bruises over much of her body.

Mark Anthony Tharp, 26, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with first-degree criminal abuse. The child's mother, Allison Julie Clark, 22, also of Elizabethtown, was arrested Thursday morning and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

The child's father took the girl to Hardin Memorial Hospital Wednesday with bruises to her buttocks, face, head, ears and legs, according to an arrest citation. Also, according to the citation, Tharp claims that "he had a black out and doesn't remember the details of his actions.''

Tharp had the child at a relative's apartment when the alleged incident occurred. The report states the subject, Tharp, became upset with the child when she was screaming and running around in the apartment.

Tharp and Clark are lodged at the Hardin County Detention Center, Tharp on a $10,000 cash bond and Clark on a partially secured $10,000 bond.
