ELIZABETHTOWN — A self-dubbed pioneer of the cowpunk, or country punk, genre, Pete Berwick will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Backstage Café, 109 N. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown. Joining him will be special guest Egon Danielson of Richmond.
Berwick's music teeters between alternative country and rock. His songs are "whiskey soaked, ragged and weathered, with a mix of hardcore heartbreak and rock-edged attitude," his Web site states. The northern Illinois native has been writing, performing and recording music for more than 25 years and has released two albums.
His current album, "Ain't No Train Outta Nashville," charted at No. 5 on XM Satellite Radio in 2007.
