Crossroads UPC to hold Memorial Day celebration

-A A +A

Did you know the Human Resources Complex recently built on Fort Knox is named after the senior service member who perished during the attack? This Sunday, the Crossroads UPC, 182 W. Vine St., Radcliff, invites the community — especially veterans, military personnel and their families — for a Memorial Day celebration.

During the noon service, the congregation will remember fallen soldiers and honor those who have served in the armed forces, retired and active duty. In attendance will be Lt. Col. Payne, chief of staff from the 3rd Recruiting Brigade, and retired Sgt. Maj. Tony Rose, who is a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attack at the Pentagon.

Rose will speak on why “freedom is not free” and will speak about the 29 fellow soldiers and civilian employees who perished that day at the Pentagon.

For his actions on that day, Rose received the U.S. Army Soldier’s Medal for Heroism by going back into the burning Pentagon five times to save lives. He also received a Purple Heart for personal injuries.

The community is invited to attend. For information, call Miguel Rivera at 307-5517 or the church office at 351-6060.
