It was a sunny day at lunch hour and steady traffic buzzed around Target in Elizabethtown. Hustling out the door, thinking of the next errand, keys in hand, I stopped short on the sidewalk.
A woman was lying flat on her back in the parking lot, her feet inches from the storefront sidewalk, her motorized scooter straddling the curb.
A child with her seemed to wonder what to do. Some older women had stopped and asked her if she needed an ambulance. She didn’t. More people came to help, but appeared not to know exactly how.
