Herbert J. ‘Junebug’ Alvey Jr.

Herbert J. “Junebug” Alvey Jr., 57, formerly of Upton, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Fordsville Health Care in Fordsville.

He was a native of Hardin County and he had worked at Hawkes Service Center in Upton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Cora Priddy Alvey; and a brother, Lawrence Alvey.

He is survived by four brothers, Phillip Alvey of Louisville, Russell Alvey of Radcliff, Charles Alvey of Upton and Bradley Alvey of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Patricia Borders of Upton and Linda Lanham of Elizabethtown.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton.

Visitation with the family is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be given for his service at Hawkes Service Center in Upton.

Josephine Bowie

Josephine Bowie, 99, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Leroy Bowie.

A graveside service is at noon Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings on Hudson, N.Y.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. today at Percell and Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Tristan Lee Clark

Tristan Lee Clark, 15, of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at University Hospital in Louisville.

He was a 10th grade student at Elizabethtown High School.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Susan Saunders.

Survivors include his parents, Tammy Diamond and Raymond F. Clark Jr.; a sister, Anne Marie Diamond; a brother, James Ray Diamond; his grandparents, Raymond F. Clark Sr. and Elizabeth Clark; an uncle, Chris Saunders; and an aunt, Cindy Clark.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday in the worship center of Severn’s Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Thomas Green officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Tristan’s wish was to donate his organs, and through his giving he helped seven people have a better life.

Shirley Mae Gordon

Shirley Mae Gordon, 49, of Radcliff, died Sunday Nov. 28, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, Decarlos Gordon and Raceo Gordon; and three daughters, Saizon Gordon, Shanika Gordon and Charlese Valentine.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at Revelation Baptist Church in Vine Grove with burial to follow in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Friday at Percell and Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Robert Haycraft

Robert Haycraft, 87, of Clarkson, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.

He was born Aug. 1, 1923, and was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Haycraft; and his parents, Donald and Bessie Blessitt Haycraft.

Survivors include a niece, Nelda Hart of Clarkson; and a special friend, Jeanette Bishop of Clarkson.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. CST Friday at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson with Brother Chester Shartzer officiating. Burial will be in Clarkson Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m.  CST Thursday and continues at 8 a.m. CST Friday at the funeral home.

Iva Ethel Butler Pepper Hazell

Iva Ethel Butler Pepper Hazell, 98 and 8 months, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Radcliff.

She was a charter member of Buffalo Church of the Nazarene in Buffalo. She and her first husband, Roy Pepper, farmed, which they loved doing. After his passing, she married John H. Hazell and she became a housewife and they traveled; both of them loved that very much. She was born March 30, 1912, the daughter of the late Jim Butler and Eller Walker Butler.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands; a stepson, John E. Hazell; and a brother, Earl Butler.

She is survived by her daughter, Ilene (Harold) Puryear of Radcliff; an adopted daughter, Stacy Lynn Hazell of Radcliff; two stepdaughters, Joyce (Marvin) Underwood of Radcliff and Mary Anne Mariano of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Gage Barron and Crystal Newton; five stepgrandchildren; a niece, Maxine Helm of Magnolia; a nephew, Otha (Dorothy) Butler of Elizabethtown; and several cousins and friends.

The funeral for Iva Ethel Butler Pepper Hazell is at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Buffalo Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ron Harrison and the Rev. Mitch Hedge officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Magnolia.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Rust-Wright Funeral Home, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville.

Rust-Wright Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of arrangements.

Robbie Jean Meade

Robbie Jean Meade, 63, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at her home.

She was retired from River City Management at Fort Knox.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald L. Meade of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Aretha Dorine Williams of Columbia, S.C.; a son, Anthony Maddox of Calipatria, Calif.; two grandchildren; and 10 brothers and sisters.

There will be no local service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Covina, Calif.

Thelma Prince

Thelma Prince, 65, of Lebanon Junction, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.

Thelma was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of both VFW Post 5710 and American Legion Post 157.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Edward Prince; and her daughter, Yvette Smith.

Thelma is survived by two children, Yvonne LaFollette of Lebanon Junction and Paul Prince of Elizabethtown; eight siblings, Henrietta Colwell of Shepherdsville, Barbara Ann Colwell of Hillview, Stella Caudill of Florida, Bill Sizemore of Louisville, Ronnie Sizemore of Hazard, R.B. Sizemore of Indiana, Rubin Sizemore of Mount Washington and George Sizemore of Indiana; six grandchildren, Shannon, Brittany, Keeshia, Joseph, Josh and Trenton; and two great-grandchildren, Anferne and Darius.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville with Brother Charles Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and continues from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
