The year in review
As we approach the final few days of 2010 and anticipate the media’s annual year in review, I can’t help but to recall news coverage of two individuals whose short lives touched an entire community. The loss of life brought world events close to home.
When 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Matthias N. Hanson of Buffalo and 26-year old Army 1st Lt. Eric Yates of Rineyville returned home after serving in Afghanistan, their families and an honor guard met them at Fort Knox Godman Army Air Field. That was not the welcome home their families expected.
