Where do the homeless sleep
I have bedding I want to donate. I started at Helping Hand thinking that they could point me in the right direction. The answer was that the homeless sleep outside. There is no shelter in Hardin County.
I just couldn’t believe that. So I stopped by the mayor’s office, I was sure they could answer my question. The mayor was out of the building, I left my card and question. He called me later in the day and told me basically, they haven't identified any homeless without shelter? He said if the police found anyone living outside they would find them a place to stay. He felt that most are passing through.
Next stop, The News-Enterprise, same answer: There’s no shelter in Hardin County.
Please tell me that in this caring, affluent community, that we have a place for the homeless to sleep when the weather is bad. We have all these vacant buildings. I have clean but used bedding, not a lot but some. I’m sure others have bedding.
There must be a need; Warm Blessings serves meals, Helping Hand gives out clothing.
Please, will someone please answer my question: Where do the homeless sleep when it is so cold?
