ISSUE: Dealing with Newberry's building
OUR VIEW: Answer the mayor's question
Mayor Edna Berger made a call for action. She asked Elizabethtown City Council to determine what to do with a corner building on Public Square, which the city owns.
Her suggestions were clear: Fix it or destroy it.
When retail thrived downtown, it served for decades as the J.J. Newberry department store. Now it's a 22,900-square-foot rundown relic.
