With more than two months of winter left, area school districts already are making accommodations for weather-related dismissals.
Hardin County Schools called off school Friday because of snow. It was the fourth snow day this school year.
Eight snow days last school year kept students and teachers in attendance until June 2.
So far this year, snow days have pushed the school year past its scheduled completion date by one day. The final scheduled day of classes is May 25. The other three days will be made up within the year, on March 4 and 18 and May 6, said John Wright, HCS community relations director.
Elizabethtown Independent Schools has missed two days of school because of the weather. Tentative make-up dates already are on the calendar: May 26-27, but nothing has been decided definitively, French said.
EIS schools canceled four days last year because of snow.
