Officials at the local school districts are making adjustments to their calendars after the chilled temperatures have kept students away from school this week.
Tuesday was the third missed day for Hardin County Schools, Community Relations Director John Wright said in an email. To make up the days, school is in session Feb. 14, May 2 and May 23. These days previously were approved by the HCS board as make-up days. As of Tuesday, May 23 is the district’s last day of school for students. Any more missed days will be added to the end of the calendar, Wright said.
Elizabethtown Independent Schools were closed Tuesday, the only day the district has missed so far. The plan is to make up the day at the end of the year on May 27, said administrative assistant Margie Maples. No make-up days were built into the EIS calendar this year, she said.
LaRue County Schools students have missed three days and, like HCS, the district will make up two days in the school year. The district will use Feb. 17 and March 17 as make-up days and include the third day at the end of the year on May 22, said Superintendent Sam Sanders.
