While making a yearly list of school supplies, Hardin County residents are asked to include extra pens and paper to help students in need.
Bluegrass Cellular is hosting the third annual Don’t Miss the Bus school supply drive. Along with partners WQXE-FM, WULF-FM and Hardin County Schools, the cellphone service provider will collect school supplies for the Family Resource Centers in HCS, Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Fort Knox Child, Youth and School Services districts.
The drive begins Monday and runs through July 26. Collection bins are at Bluegrass Cellular locations in Elizabethown and Radcliff, Glendale Christian Church, Christ Episcopal Church in Elizabethtown, The Reserves Network in Elizabethtown, South Central Bank in Elizabethtown, E-town Swim & Fitness, Ipay Technologies in Elizabethtown, Towne Mall, Chick-Fil-A and the city halls of Elizabethtown, Radcliff and Vine Grove.
An HCS bus will be parked at Bluegrass Cellular’s Elizabethtown Customer Care Center on July 22 and 23, the Radcliff location July 24 and Towne Mall on July 25 to collect items.
The Radcliff City Hall location and the inclusion of the youth services at Fort Knox are additions this year, said Ashton Biggers, manager of marketing and advertising at Bluegrass.
“We’re really starting to hit our stride to a degree,” Biggers said.
A similar event takes place in Bowling Green, which inspired the local company.
“We knew there was a need” and wanted to do what they could for local children, he said.
Supplies requested for the drive include:
Multiple colors of pocket folders
No. 2 pencils
