Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System announces Dennis Dougherty is the 2008 recipient of the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor of the Year Award. The award was presented at the annual Kentucky School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies conference, held in July.
Dougherty, a Certified Alcohol and Drug therapist at Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System since 2007, has been working in the field of addictions since 1978. His background is vast, including experience as the director of an Outpatient DUI program, work with the Department of Corrections, and as an operator of a private consultation and addictions services business, Long Run Solutions, Inc.
Dougherty is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Kentucky and Indiana as well as a Na-tional Certified Recovery Specialist for the Association of Halfway House Alcoholism Program of North America, Inc.
In addition, he has committed years of service to various recovery organizations, serving as the past president of the Kentucky Association of Addiction Professionals, past treasurer of the Kentucky Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association, and past chairman of the Board of Directors of Challengers, a non-profit organization focused on drug prevention in Oldham County.
Currently, Dougherty serves on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Adolescent Substance Abuse Consortium.
