Brian Christopher Smith, 27, of River Road, was charged Wednesday with reckless homicide – not long after being released from a Louisville hospital.

Smith was the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a fertilizer truck Monday on Tanner Road in LaRue County. One of his passengers, Kevin Delaney House, 37, of Elizabethtown, died from his injuries.

LaRue County Deputy Russell McCoy also charged Smith with driving on a revoked or suspended license and failure of non-owner to provide insurance. He was lodged in the LaRue County Detention Center.

Smith and another passenger, Timmy Vittitow, 19, were ejected from the truck and were taken to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment.

Terry Ovesen, the driver of the fertilizer truck, was treated and released from Hardin Memorial Hospital.
