The News-Enterprise's weekly feature column, Stories from the Heartland, is changing hands.
Amber Coulter, a general assignment reporter, will be the new writer of this Monday favorite. Her first installment will appear in the Aug. 22 edition.
She assumes the role from John Friedlein, a former staff writer who left the paper in January to devote more time to a family business. Over the past seven months, Friedlein continued to produce the column on a freelance basis.
On a personal note, I'd like to express my appreciation of John's work and the skill with which he crafted the articles. By continuing the column, he provide us with a vital bridge,
Now, we in the newsroom are equally excited to continue this weekly reader favorite from a new perspective and with another excellent writer.
A Western Kentucky University graduate, Coulter worked as a summer intern at The News-Enterprise during college. She rejoined the staff in April after an 18-month stint on a daily newspaper in Jasper, Ind. A native of Louisville, she handles both news and feature stories for the paper.
