The city schools’ calendar will be changing this month to accommodate the recent snow day accumulation.
The Elizabethtown Independent Schools board voted Monday to amend the school calendar to schedule two days to make up for those missed by inclement weather.
Students at EIS will attending school Feb. 18 and 21, both previously scheduled as days off for students. Feb. 18 originally was going to be a professional development day for teachers, and Feb. 21 was going to be observed as a holiday for President’s Day.
The district has a total of five days missed because of weather, so the amended calendar will leave them with three days still to make up.
The board voted unanimously. Board member Guy Wallace did not attend Monday’s meeting.
Hardin County Schools has missed nine days of school because of snowy road conditions. The current school calendar has 10 make-up days scheduled, and according to the document students would be making up their last day on June 2.
However, John Wright, the community relations director for HCS, said the board might be meeting soon to discuss scheduling possibilities.
